British writer Tom Sharpe is one writer who definitely does not write for kids just because he writes ‘comical’ books – they mostly contain all kinds of profanities, kinky sex, cruel deaths and perversions, all narrated in a typical british way.
He is a master of creating rather complex intrigues with schemes and plots, and not many can match him there when he is at his best. I usually prefer the earliest books (of which this is one) and I would recommend anything written by him before 1980
